Monumental

Finance Ops Associate

Amsterdam, Full-time, Company Operations

Monumental is automating on-site construction with robotics and software. Our mission is to make construction software-defined and autonomous - a future where beautiful, bespoke buildings go up in a single day, with minimal labour.

We're a growing team of engineers, operators and technicians from diverse backgrounds, including consumer tech, finance and media, and companies like Dyson, Shopify, Meta and Tesla. It's still the early days of building the company, and this is a chance to make an outsized impact on a problem that matters. From day one, you'll be working with an experienced founding team, backed by a $32M Series B led by Khosla Ventures and Plural, alongside other renowned investors.

Monumental is based in the city centre of Amsterdam, in a beautiful facility with a fully equipped workshop and robot testing floor. We build the whole stack in-house, hardware and software. Our work involves building robots in our workshop and houses on real construction sites, so we're onsite five days a week.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a Finance Ops Associate to help run the financial operations behind Monumental. You’ll work closely with our finance and operations teams, building practical experience in invoice processing, month-end closing and financial administration.

This is a role for someone near the start of their career who enjoys working with numbers and wants to understand how a company runs. You don’t need a background in robotics or construction. Curiosity, care with details and a willingness to ask questions matter.

Your work will help suppliers get paid on time, colleagues make informed decisions and the company keep financial records it can trust. Some tasks are repetitive and require patience. You’ll also help improve the processes behind them, so recurring problems get fixed.

Finance operations will be your main focus, alongside occasional projects such as researching a supplier, preparing an analysis or helping set up a new process. As you learn the business, you’ll take on greater responsibility and more complex work.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Process supplier invoices. Check invoices against orders and supporting documents, assign the right categories, resolve discrepancies and gather approvals so payments can be made on time.

- Support the monthly close. Reconcile transactions, check that invoices and expenses are recorded in the right period, and follow up on outstanding items alongside the finance team.

- Keep financial records organised. Maintain supplier details, receipts and expense records. Help prepare customer invoices, track payments and answer questions from colleagues and suppliers.

- Improve how we work. Spot recurring errors, document processes and use software and AI to reduce manual work, checking the results carefully.

- Contribute to broader projects. Help the operations team with research, analysis and process improvements as priorities arise, while keeping finance operations as your core responsibility.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

- An interest in finance and business. You want to build a strong foundation in financial operations. You might be a recent graduate or have around a year of work experience.

- Care with numbers. You can work through an invoice or spreadsheet, notice when something doesn’t add up and investigate it.

- Organisation and follow-through. You track deadlines, follow up on missing information and flag when priorities conflict.

- Clear communication. You’re comfortable asking questions, working with colleagues and suppliers, and raising problems early.

- Comfort with spreadsheets and a willingness to learn new systems. You’re interested in finding better ways to do recurring work.

- Good judgement with confidential information. You handle financial and company information carefully.

- Nice to have: experience with bookkeeping, accounting software or month-end closing is helpful, but not required. You don’t need to have done every task listed here before applying.

What you’ll gain

You’ll learn how financial operations connect to a business that designs, manufactures and deploys its own robots. Working closely with the finance and operations teams, you’ll build experience across the monthly finance cycle and develop your ability to investigate discrepancies, improve processes and take responsibility for more complex work.
